Peak Edge Hotel winter wedding in Chesterfield | Derbyshire Wedding Photographer

Many of you might not have winter as your first choice to book your wedding… actually it might even be your fifth choice (a Christmas wedding doesn’t count as a winter wedding). However Lizzie & Rhodri’s photos from their November wedding might make you think again.

Their day was full of personal touches - Lizzie got ready at her parents home, assisted by her sister where, where I’ll always notice sentimental items, maybe your parents wedding photos, childhood photos, your wedding invites on a noticeboard or a note on the calendar.

It was a totally overcast day, which if you didn’t know, is a photographers dream weather - no harsh shadows, soft light all round and I can choose the most aesthetically pleasing angles for confetti, group and couple portraits without taking harsh side light into consideration.

The drinks reception was held at the Peak Edge Hotel, a modern boutique hotel, restaurant and wedding venue. A huge glass window frames the view of the Peak District, it was the perfect backdrop for their photos.

One of the most magical moments from this wedding day was during the church service, Rhodri’s university friends sang a spine tingling a cappella rendition of Calon Lân, something they’ve all done and will continue to do for each others weddings. Lizzie and Rhodri also booked content creation with me for their wedding, so I just HAD to use this as the sound track for their highlights video. It was perfect.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I not only love to capture weddings just as they fold out but the results of working this way too. Being able to deliver a gallery of your wedding day full of moments that really happened while you were in the moment is just unmatched.
